SWIMMING THROUGH
We are blown away by the attention and love our film has received to date. Since the premiere May 2022 we have been programmed in more than 40 film festivals and won both jury and audience awards. Remarkably, the film is now qualified to compete for the Oscar for Best Documentary Short! The hurdle is that publicity and marketing awards campaigns can cost around $20,000, but they are crucial to getting the film visibility with the voters. Without a big streamer behind us like Netflix or Hulu, we are doing this campaign on our own.
We have secured a publicity firm experienced with awards campaigns that is working with us for a greatly reduced fee. However, emails to doc branch voters (which cost money and must go through an Academy certified mailing house), awards screenings and ads cannot be discounted and range from $750-$10,000. We greatly appreciate any help you can offer us as we would love to get this beautiful story of resilience and the power of community out to the wider audience that being nominated for an Oscar would bring. Initial voting begins December 14th. All contributions are tax deductible.
